ACRYLICS & PASTELS

Many of my paintings are about communicating with friends over a cup of coffee, toasting with a glass of wine to treasured friendships, or playing music with a house full of friends. Many of these these paintings were commissions for homes, for other projects as well as for an Italian restaurant wanting to capture a fun and upbeat feeling with vibrant colors.

'Medicinal Herbs' - Oil 24"x35"

I wanted to honor these herbs in anticipation of Covid-19 that are helpful to rebuild your immune system, lungs as well as relieve stress and are filled with antioxidants. They also aid with Cancer, Alzheimers, and Inflammation in the body. These herbs: Dandelion, Japanese Knotweed, Burdock, Turmeric, and Chrysanthemum.

'Pomegranates-Exotic Holiday Fruit' - oil 24"x18"

Every fall we await the arrival of these extravagant pomegranates to be harvested and added to our holiday dinners. Pomegranates are filled with antioxidants that help to slow down the onset of Alzheimer’s, cancer, and inflammation in the body.

Note: slice like an orange and remove skin underwater to remove the seeds.

'Ripples of Uncertainty' - oil 30"X40"

Emotions were running at an elevated level during the spring of 2020 with Covid-19 all around us and our nerves were unhinged. The surrounding blue water is usually calm, still, and visually a place to relax the mind but at this moment displayed energy with ripples and confusion. Each movement in the water represented a family in a distraught time of their lives. I painted this image to represent all families and their challenges as well as to calm my nerves during my ‘quarantined’ time.

The strength of the water on either side gave support to a couple falling in love.

'Echinacea & Milk Thistle' - oil 30"x40"

This painting is dedicated to my sister who was fighting lung cancer and filled with toxins at the time that I painted this, she passed away before I finished. ‘Echinacea’ helps with one’s immune system, aids with inflammation as well as helps fight cancer cells. ‘Milk Thistle’ is a natural treatment for one’s liver removing toxins, cancer prevention, and has anti-tumor properties. I wanted to honor any natural treatments that are good for our bodies for the prevention of many diseases.

'Mom's Glasses-Losing Clarity' - oil 23"x40"

This was the moment I realized my mother's Alzheimer's had fully set into a 'reality' of not turning back. We were rushing into a business meeting and she could not decipher as to which glasses were the appropriate ones to choose - confused but determined, she was 'losing clarity' of her life. My beautiful mother Norma, a classy and brilliant business woman was losing her dignity. Each pair of glasses is a reflection of her life and tells its own story. I witnessed, I experienced, and I cried, but it wasn't about me...it was about her. This painting is dedicated to my mother Norma and those suffering from Alzheimer's and their families.
